As long as there has been a Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormon), Evangelical Christians have strongly disapproved of Mormonism as a Cult and as a religion which is not consistent with orthodox (rightly understood) Christianity. That is, until a former Mormon Bishop and current Republican candidate for the Presidency met with the unofficial Pope of Evangelicals, Billy Graham, recently. Pope Bill, with his son, Franklin, by his side, delivered a new encyclical ex cathedra and declared Mormonism Christian. Soon thereafter the website of the Billy Graham Association deleted its reference to Mormonism as a Cult.
Good news, Scientology, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Moonies, and Spiritualists, you too can be OK’ed by the bible-thumping Born-Agains, all you need to do is become Republican! Who could have predicted that the sins of heresy and paganism would be so easily forgiven and reconciled. Faith is just another word for politics, and if you vote Right, you’ll be saved.
(Sorry, liberal Christians, there is no hope for you. And Unitarians, forget it)
It is reported by students of religion that Mormonism holds that Jesus and Satan are brothers, that God the Father is married to a Mother Goddess, that all good Mormon men can become gods, and that the Book of Mormon is superior to the Bible. Whatever non-believers may think about these doctrines it is not difficult to see how many Christians hold that such doctrines aren’t Christian. Yet “Pope” Billy has laid his hands upon the Mittster and consecrated him for the struggle against the Evil that is Liberalism.
It is more proof for the proposition that the so-called “Christian Right” is neither Christian nor Right but a mere front for the very same Vast Right Wing conspiracy funded by BILLIONAIRES, supported by Ditto-heads and Koch-heads, and manipulated by amoral tricksters such as Karl Rove and Grover Norquist. It ain’t about Salvation, it’s about Power.
