78 years ago on the 14th of August the Social Security program became law.
It has proved the most successful program of the New Deal. It has never missed a payment. No private pension plan has been able to demonstrate such low-cost administrative costs. It has provided Millions and Millions of retirees a secure life in their twilight years and has spared children of elderly parents of the financial responsibility for their parents.
How should we commemorate the event? We should preserve the system and fulfill its commitments to today’s retirees as well as generations to come.
