Stephen Acquario is a lobbyist employed by the New York Association of Counties, he makes $ 204,000 a year and gets a “company” car. His “company” is the trade association of county governments. He is not a government employee but is granted a State Employee pension upon his retirement.
In twenty of the States, lobbyists working for associations of local governments are provided publicly funded and administered pensions as though they were public employees. Remarkably many of these non-governmental employees diligently work to deny pensions to REAL public employees all the while collecting their own.
This is but another example of what is wrong with the country. The economy is fixed and not free and the government is of cronies and not the people.
